Primarily Warba (white), Norchip (white), Chieftain (red) and Yukon Gold (yellow).
Nugget potatoes are picked early before they have reached maturity and size. They’re selected and sorted for uniform size and shape before they reach the stores.
Nuggets have a thin parchment-like skin and a delicious, firm flesh. Nugget potatoes need very little preparation, no peeling is necessary, just a light rinse.
They are excellent when steamed, boiled or pan-fried and are exceptional served cooked & cold in salads.
- New “Nugget” White Potatoes are available May through July.
- Red and Yellow “Nugget” Potatoes are available July through March.
Care and Storage
“Nugget” potatoes’ delicate skin makes them highly perishable, so they should be stored in the refrigerator. Too much light will cause potatoes to turn green and develop a bitter taste
*Warning: Consumers should avoid eating potatoes that show signs of greening. Potatoes with pronounced greening should be discarded. If potatoes taste bitter or cause a burning sensation after cooking, do not consume them. For more info visit the Canada Food Inspection Agency.
